Dr. Summers is a highly skilled, board certified, and Texas licensed optometrist who has made caring for her patients’ eyesight her number one priority. She graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry where she earned a dual degree of Doctorate of Optometry and Master in Science in Vision Science, graduating with honors (Beta Sigma Kappa) from both programs. Her externship training specialization involved a wide array of ocular diseases. She also completed internship training in hard-to-fit specialty contact lenses. She has experience fitting a wide variety of such lenses including sclerals, hybrids, and gas permeable lenses. Dr. Summers is a member of the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Summers is passionate about health care. She has served as the president of the SUNY Student Chapter of the American Public Health Association (APHA). Her graduate research work included hypertension screening. She served US Military Veterans giving them medical eye care at the St. Albans, New York Veteran’s Association Medical Center. She teaches continuing education classes to other optometrists about specialty contact lenses. She speaks English, Spanish, and Hebrew.
