Edward Makler, O.D. earned his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma University, and his Doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. Makler has been in private practice in Richardson since 1976. He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1968 and from University of Houston College of Optometry in 1972. Dr. Makler is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, the Dallas County Optometric Society and the Air Force Association. At age 15, Dr. Makler obtained Eagle Scout in BSA, and from 1972-1976, he was Chief of Optometry at Carswell Air Force Base. Dr. Makler is involved in the “Sight for Students” program providing free eye examinations and free eyewear to children. Dr. Makler has obtained the recognition as a “Therapeutic Optometrist” and “Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.” The American Board of Optometry (ABO) has certified Dr. Makler as a “Diplomate, American Board of Optometry”. The Oklahoma School of Optometry has named Dr. Makler as adjunct professor to participate in the education of optometry students.
